Automated Big data analysis - to exploit artificial intelligence techniques in order to allow the automation of the data analysis and feature extraction tasks
  Dr A Starkey, Dr M N Campbell-Bannerman
Applications accepted all year round
The amount of data in today’s world is ever increasing, and has even led to new terms describing this as in Big Data.
Automated methods to recognize, track, visualize and manipulate specific geobodies
  Dr A Starkey, Dr M N Campbell-Bannerman, Dr D Iacopini
Applications accepted all year round
The oil & gas sector has massive data sets in the form of seismic data that it needs to analyse in order to identify the location of hydrocarbons and also to assess the risk for drilling operations in a particular area.
Enhancing the performance, condition, safety and reliability of offshore wind energy infrastructure systems using optimal design, inspections, structural health monitoring and structural control
Dr P Omenzetter, Dr P Dunning, Dr S Sriramula, Dr Amir Siddiq
Applications accepted all year round
Wind turbines are exposed to frequent structural damage increasing the cost of wind energy generation. To drive these costs down, this project will develop new automated methods for detection of structural damage to wind turbines by examining vibration responses measured by sensors attached to the structure.
Marine risers: experimental damage detection, monitoring and numerical modelling using digital twins
Dr P Omenzetter, Dr D Van der A, Prof E Pavlovskaia, Dr Amir Siddiq
Applications accepted all year round
Marine risers are critical components of any offshore oil and gas production operations linking subsea field developments with production and drilling equipment atop fixed or floating facilities.
Ontological Modelling for Data Analysis: utilising improvements in processing capacity to enable the effective and timely analysis of very large sets of complex data
Dr C Luca, Dr M Hobbs, Dr A Fatima
Applications accepted all year round

Remote Sensing and Advanced Spectral Analysis for Coaching and Rehabilitation
Dr D Vicinanza, Dr J Zhang
Applications accepted all year round
Research Group. Sound and Game Engineering (SAGE) Research Group. https://www.anglia.ac.uk/science-and-technology/research/our-research-institutes-and-groups/sound-and-game-engineering.
Development of a new optical sensor that combines plasmonics, RF photonics, interferometry and deep learning
  Research Group: Electrooptics Group
Prof S Sternklar, Dr Yuri Gorodetski
Applications accepted all year round
When light interacts with the environment, one or more of its properties change. These properties include. amplitude, phase, wavelength and polarization.
The influence of serious battlefield traumatic injury (SBTI ) upon cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and heart rate variability
  Prof A McConnell
Application Deadline: 31 January 2019
The aims of the project are to examine the impact of STBI upon HRV and its relationship to other CVD risk markers in a cohort British Military Servicemen who have sustained recent SBTI.
Future climate and mass balance of the Antarctic ice sheet
Dr A Orr, Prof A J Payne, Dr G Marshall, Dr R Essery
Application Deadline: 7 January 2019
Project background. The Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS) is the largest mass of ice on Earth, which would raise sea levels by 58 meters if melted entirely.
The environmental trade-offs of mining in a biodiversity hotspot
  Dr S Willcock
Application Deadline: 27 January 2019
Historically nations have traded-off environmental degradation to achieve economic development. However, a turning point is sometimes observed above a certain level of wealth where countries invest in pro-environmental efforts.
