We are seeking excellent candidates for 16 fully funded PhD positions, as part of the forth cohort of the newly established EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in the Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE), jointly run by Imperial College London and the University of Reading.
The main objective of the project is to develop and exploit emerging microfluidic and big data optimisation approaches, coupled with small angle scattering, in the context of complex fluids, or “formulations”.
Studentship. Untaxed bursary of £16,553 per annum (2017/18 figure including London weighting plus home/EU fees). High-Performance Data Management enables a landscape of new and exciting applications such as interactive data exploration, realtime stream processing or predictive analytics.
In this project, the student will develop cutting-edge distributional models of dominant ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungal species across Europe and establish vital practice and policy recommendations for the monitoring, management and conservation of these ecologically critical organisms.
