Ecology (coastal) PhD Projects, Programmes & Scholarships

We have 28 Ecology (coastal) PhD Projects, Programmes & Scholarships

Space-based water quality and light field prediction to support coastal aquaculture operations.

Aquaculture in coastal waters is critically dependent on water quality. Satellite remote sensing has the potential to provide water quality on unprecedented spatio-temporal scales but is currently hampered by fundamental limitations including atmospheric correction and algorithm failure in turbid waters. Marine and estuarine restoration: implications of restoration methods and drivers of success

Saltmarsh and seagrass ecosystems provide several essential ecosystem services, including shoreline protection from coastal erosion, nursery areas for many species of fish and invertebrates, fishery production, and carbon sequestration. Read more

A mechanistic understanding of how chemical contaminants affect marine invertebrates, using a common jellyfish as a model.

Project overview. Ecosystems are widely impacted by anthropogenic activities, including the release of chemicals. Scyphozoan jellyfish, in particular the common jellyfish Aurelia spp., are widespread in coastal environments subjected to a range of natural and anthropogenic stressors. Read more

Implications of wetland creation for mosquito-borne disease risk

Wetlands are crucial habitats for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem integrity. However, newly constructed wetlands could have implications for mosquito communities and disease risk by increasing habitat availability. Read more

A multidisciplinary study of dune environments; past to present

The ACCE+ DLA is committed to recruiting extraordinary future scientists regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, faith or religious belief, pregnancy or maternity, parental or caring responsibilities or career pathway to date. Read more
