NERC Doctoral Training Partnerships are set up by universities to provide research and training opportunities for PhD students, funded by the UK Natural Environment Research Council. DTPs may advertise specific PhD opportunities or invite students to propose topics. Students may receive additional training and development opportunities as part of their programme.
Some or all of the PhD opportunities in this programme have funding attached. Applications for this programme are welcome from suitably qualified candidates worldwide. Funding may only be available to a limited set of nationalities and you should read the full programme details for further information.
4 Year PhD Programmes are extended PhD opportunities that involve more training and preparation. You will usually complete taught courses in your first year (sometimes equivalent to a Masters in your subject) before choosing and proposing your research project. You will then research and submit your thesis in the normal way.ESRC Doctoral Training Centre
