Immunology (assay) PhD Projects, Programmes & Scholarships

We have 9 Immunology (assay) PhD Projects, Programmes & Scholarships

Discovery and functional investigation of the shared molecular mechanisms of host immunoregulation by the pathogens that cause malaria and sepsis.

Infectious diseases cause enormous humanitarian and economic burdens worldwide. Designing interventions that prevent, cure, or control many infections is difficult because pathogens have evolved sophisticated ways of subverting host immunity. Read more

MSc by Research: Nutrient-dependent regulation of microglia function and immune responses

Microglia are constantly sensing the brain environment for metabolic changes, damage and pathogenic invasion. Microglia are highly metabolically active, with activation in response to inflammatory stimulation increasing glycolytic demand. Read more

Developing 3D models to understand how interactions between bacterial biofilm and the host environment impact antimicrobial efficacy in a chronic infected wound

2.8 million people in the UK have a chronic wound which persist for months or years, causing pain, isolation, odour, and decreased mobility; patients with chronic wounds regularly report a deterioration in quality of life. Polymicrobial biofilms are present in greater than 70% of chronic wounds, making effective treatment incredibly challenging.
