The College of Engineering is at the forefront of world leading multidisciplinary research that is innovative and makes a real difference.
In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 73% of academic staff in the College of Engineering were classed as producing research of world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*) quality. Using weighted averages, this places the School eighth in the UK and first in Wales when compared to other Faculties and Schools of Engineering. Particular highlights include Civil Engineering at Swansea ranked second in the UK for research quality, General Engineering ranked joint fifth, and Materials Engineering joint eighth.
