3.5 Year PhD Studentship available for September 2019. Applications are invited for highly motivated students wishing to undertake research towards a PhD in synthetic chemistry with Dr Fabrizio Ortu at the University of Leicester.
This PhD project involves the synthesis of luminescent receptors for the detection of biologically important anions. These molecules will be applied to monitoring enzyme reactions in real-time, and visualising biochemical processes in living cells.
This project will be part of the Doctoral Training Centre on Plasma interactions with Liquids. The Buckley group has embarked on a programme of research directed at carbon dioxide utilisation (CDU) and has reported initial efforts in the area.
