Iontophoresis to deliver corticosteroids across buccal mucosal using hydrogel as delivery systems
  Prof M Patel, Dr E Hagi-Pavli
Applications accepted all year round

Funding Type

PhD Type

Background. Topical delivery of drugs to treat oral mucosal disease is often challenging. This is due to, for example, the saliva washing therapeutic agents away into the gastrointestinal system, the movement of oral structures during mastication and the presence of keratinized oral mucosal surfaces.
PhD in Chemistry: Tissue-like hydrogels based on Carbon Nitride
  Dr B V K J Schmidt
Application Deadline: 15 August 2019

Funding Type

PhD Type

Bright, highly motivated candidates are invited to apply for a fully funded 3.5 year PhD position in the School of Chemistry, available to commence on 1st October 2019 in the Schmidt research group at the University of Glasgow.
A soft robotic technology by controllably morphing gel structures (Advert Reference: RDFC18/EE/MCE/XU)
  Dr B Xu
Application Deadline: 9 June 2019

Funding Type

PhD Type

This project includes the design and fabrication of a soft robotic technology by using the stimuli-responsive hydrogel materials and structural thin shell design, which enable instability morphology to be spatially distributed and generated at the surface of gel structure.
Development of nanomedicines for the treatment of eye diseases
Dr VR Kearns, Dr T McDonald
Applications accepted all year round

Funding Type

PhD Type

The overall aim of this project is to develop new ways to deliver drugs to the back of the eye. Diseases involving the back of the eye can lead to sight loss, significantly reducing quality of life and economic opportunities of those affected.
