Numerical Modelling of 3D Microstructure of Nonwovens
Dr E Demirci, Dr A Gleadall
Applications accepted all year round

Funding Type

PhD Type

The main aim of the proposed project is to develop a novel scheme for the analysis of a 3D orientation distribution function (ODF) of fibers in nonwovens using non-destructive testing methods, such as, X-ray micro computed tomography (CT), and to benchmark nonwovens analytically & graphically based on their 3D fibrous structure.
High speed 3D robot vision (JF2UF2019)
Prof J Huntley, Dr P Ruiz
Application Deadline: 5 January 2020

Funding Type

PhD Type

This project will involve the development of a very high speed active 3D vision system, and investigation of potential high value manufacturing applications such as robotic machining and assembly.
Sensor driven process control for robotic 3D printing of concrete
Dr P Kinnell, Dr R Buswell
Applications accepted all year round

Funding Type

PhD Type

Concrete 3D printing is an emerging manufacturing process that uses industrial robots to build large-scale components for a range of construction applications.
