Revealing Reactivity in Cancer-Associated Heme Proteins: Novel Time-Resolved Structural Approaches

Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) is a heme-containing enzyme involved in the degradation of tryptophan to kynurenine. Cancer cells upregulate IDO1 to escape normal immune responses and, in many cases, a high expression of IDO1 is connected to poor prognosis. Read more

Investigating the neuro-stromal-immune interactions in inflammageing and osteoarthritis.

Ageing is associated with a higher risk of developing multiple chronic conditions (multimorbidity) including osteoarthritis. Age-associated chronic low-grade inflammation (inflammageing) is a hallmark of osteoarthritis. Read more

REGULATION OF BCR SIGNALLING BY DNA DAMAGE RESPONSE AND P53 PROTEIN

Chance or Necessity: Elucidating host adaptation in atypical Salmonella

Food security is a key sustainable development goal for the United Nations (UN) and it is estimated that more than two billion people did not have access to safe, nutritious and/or sufficient food in 2019. Read more

Cancer: Understanding the immunosuppressive role of fibroblast and macrophages in Breast cancer

Oncolytic viruses (OVs) preferentially infect and kill cancer cells, and their clinical efficacy has been demonstrated against a number of different cancers. The most clinically advanced OV is a genetically engineered herpes simplex virus (T-VEC) which expresses GMCSF to aid the development of anti-tumour immune responses; T-VEC is approved for the treatment of metastatic melanoma. Identify novel approaches to combat multi drug resistant pathogens

Our research is focused on recalcitrant ESKAPE (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, andEnterobacter species) pathogens; especially hard-to-treat clinical isolates involved in multidrug resistance, biofilm infections and persistence.
