Competition Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)
This project is in competition for funding with other projects. Usually the project which receives the best applicant will be successful. Unsuccessful projects may still go ahead as self-funded opportunities.
Some or all of the PhD opportunities in this programme have funding attached. Applications for this programme are welcome from suitably qualified candidates worldwide. Funding may only be available to a limited set of nationalities and you should read the full programme details for further information.
A Portuguese PhD usually takes 3-4 years, sometimes including a period of taught classes and practical training prior to commencing work on an independent research project. Students eventually present their thesis for a public examination. Most international programmes are taught in English.
