10 PhD Fellowships within Horizon Europe Marie Curie Doctoral Network programme PRAETORIAN

Would you like to be part of a network to collaboratively work to develop novel approaches in precision sepsis patient care providing new diagnostics and therapeutics? Would you like to start your career in a European training network of leading research universities, patient organisations and professionals from the industry to become a completely new type of actor in the field?

PRAETORIAN offers a top-level interdisciplinary research and educational training on preclinical and clinical science, business- and entrepreneurial aspects, intellectual properties and more, covering multiple aspects of the drug discovery and development process.

PRAETORIAN is an EU funded doctoral network coordinated by the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM), The Netherlands. PRAETORIAN brings together five university partners from across Europe to recruit a group of 10 of the best doctoral candidates. You will work together with senior researchers from across the network. You will be employed at one of the five academic institutions and enrolled in a local PhD programme, while at the same time being part of an integrated research team and research project at network level.

Applicants must satisfy the following eligibility requirements: at the time of the recruitment by the host organisations, you 1) must not have resided in the host country for more than 12 months in the last 3 years, and 2) must be in the first four years of your research career and not have a doctoral degree.

This Network is formed by five internationally recognised research institutions:

• Uppsala Universitet - Sweden
• Biomedical Research Institute of Barcelona - Spain

This Network is complemented by 13 partners that will contribute to the research training and personal development programme, amongst others the companies Pharmatarget BV, Biosynth BV and Basic Pharma Technologies B.V as well as patient organisations from several of the participating countries.

We invite applications for 3-year PhD fellowships to start around June 2024 (only for Projects 2 and 3), working at one of the host organisations. Applicants must satisfy the following eligibility requirements: at the time of the recruitment by the host organisations, you 1) must not have resided in the host country for more than 12 months in the last 3 years, and 2) must be in the first four years of your research career and not have a doctoral degree. You will benefit from secondments in academia and industry, training and transferable-skills courses and active participation in workshops and conferences. You will be offered a salary plus mobility allowance and family allowance (if applicable) in line with the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Horizon Europe requirements for Doctoral Candidates. Gross salary without employer´s social contribution without family allowance:

• Maastricht University NL: € 2,770.00 – € 3,539.00
• Université Paris Cité: € 3,460.00
• Universität Münster: € 4,188.00
• Uppsala Universitet: 29,000 SEK (app. conversion to €2,500.00 on 13/11/2023) with an annual increase according to university and union regulations.
