The IMT School of Advanced Studies Lucca is now recruiting 5 talented doctoral candidates in its Cognitive, Computational and Social Neurosciences (CCSN) Ph.D. Program.

The Ph.D. Program in Cognitive, Computational and Social Neurosciences (CCSN) aims to provide the theoretical, methodological, instrumental and cultural skills necessary for studying the brain and the mind, the interpretation and representation of the external world and the cognition and of human behaviors. This research-based, multidisciplinary Ph.D. Program focuses on cognitive, computational and social neurosciences, and integrates a basic neuroscience and cognitive science training with experimental psychophysiology and neuroimaging for the characterization of mental activities and behavior in the neuropsychological, psycholinguistic, computational, social, philosophical, logical and educational domains. The CCSN track is part of the Network of European Neuroscience Schools (NENS).

  • Contract Type: 36-month scholarship (extendable up to 48 months)

Your Role

  • First year: Attend and pass graduate courses
  • Second and third year: Engage in your own research project (also abroad) under the guidance of the faculty members from one of the research groups
  • Participate in the daily academic and campus life, including seminars, conferences, workshops, public outreach activities, etc.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Philosophy, Medicine, Bioengineering, Computer Sciences, Linguistics and Humanities, Biology, Economy or in related fields (to be obtained by October 31st, 2023)
  • High level of proficiency in English
  • Enthusiasm for research, motivation, self-confidence, critical thinking
