AHRC PhD studentship applications are open for doctoral research across the full range of Arts and Humanities research at Birkbeck. Birkbeck is a research-intensive university based in central London with a community of over 500 research students. Our vibrant and intellectually challenging research environment is built upon 200 years of research excellence.

You can begin your doctoral research with an AHRC funded studentship in the following Birkbeck faculties:

Awards are offered for 3 years (36 months) full time, with the opportunity to extend up to 4 years (48 months) to include necessary skills training, or to incorporate placement projects.
Applications encouraged from under-represented groups including people with disabilities, ethnic minorities (especially Black British), lower income families and mature students. A partnership with the Stuart Hall Foundation supports at least two additional studentships a year for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates.
