Cancer Research UK 4-year PhD Programme in Integrative Cancer Epidemiology

Cancer Research UK 4-year PhD Programme in Integrative Cancer Epidemiology

We are seeking enthusiastic scientists to join the next generation of inter-disciplinary researchers who will exploit the wealth of new data being generated in population health sciences. Our innovative four-year PhD programme offers you the opportunity to develop the knowledge and technical skills to become future research leaders in the field of cancer epidemiology.

The Programme

This 4-year PhD programme is embedded within our £7.7 cross-disciplinary CRUK Integrative Cancer Epidemiology Programme (ICEP).

Our PhD studentships are fully funded for 4 years and have two major components:

  • Foundation year: Two four month research ‘mini-projects’, integrated with training from a menu of short courses selected on the basis of your training needs.
  • Years 2-4: Main PhD research project, with continued training, and presentation of results at international conferences.

We welcome students from a wide range of scientific backgrounds. Our PhD programme and training environment will provide you with the necessary skills to succeed in this field! You will work on exciting interdisciplinary research using data and samples from leading cancer and population studies (eg ALSPAC, UK Biobank and Head & Neck 5000).

You will be hosted by the Population Health Sciences Department at the University of Bristol, a leading UK research university. The ICEP Twitter page @BrisCancerEpi and the University Instagram page showcase Bristol activities and our city.

We have an extensive pool of supervisors and all PhD students are co-supervised by more than one member of staff to provide access to a wide range of skills and expertise.
