Pursuing an inclusive and ambitious research agenda, we cross the broad spectrum of the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Our Postgraduate Research Studentship programme was established in 2008 and demonstrates our commitment to developing the next generation of leaders in the field. Currently, we have over 140 research students working alongside dedicated academics pursuing purpose-led and connected programmes of research with practitioners, industry experts and policymakers in the world of sport and physical activity. Our research investment is targeted towards multi- and interdisciplinary Research Centres that bring together expertise and builds critical mass.

Our postgraduate research students are an integral part of the Carnegie School of Sport. We have a thriving postgraduate research student community who produce high quality research with real world impact. As well as completing a research degree, we pride ourselves in supporting postgraduate research students to develop skills that will enable them to pursue a successful career in academia or the sports industry more widely. By joining the Carnegie School of Sport, you will become part of a buoyant and internationally renowned research community.

Collectively and purposefully driven by a focus on making a positive and decisive difference to people, communities and organisations, the Carnegie School of Sport is an appealing research environment for those wanting to develop and apply innovative, high-quality research. Our research culture is founded upon a genuine commitment and capacity to work with others on real-world applied interdisciplinary problems, to achieve impact beyond academia, for the benefit of wider society.
