ESRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Data Analytics and Society

Up to 22 PhD positions are available for 2023 in the ESRC-funded Centre for Data Analytics and Society (CDAS) at the Universities of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield. This will be our final intake to the centre and so the final chance to complete this programme of training and research at the cutting edge of data analytics in social science. Providing you access to our extensive data resources, often including proprietary data at four of the leading institutions for Data Science in the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a 4-year funded integrated PhD and MSc in Data Analytics and Society, working on a project which has been developed in conjunction with an external organization, or a student led project. Projects are available across a range of subject areas including Digital Media, Urban Dynamics, Transport, Health, Retail, and Politics.

The programme includes an MSc in Data Analytics over the first two years, which will provide you with the foundation skills to complete your research project.

Entry Requirements & How to Apply

Applicants must have, as a minimum, a good first degree (2.1 honours or higher) in a relevant subject area.

Non-native English speakers require an English language qualification, such as IELTS (7 overall with 7 in writing).

Applications are open to both Home and International fee rated applicants, though please note a maximum of 30% of our awarded places will be available to international candidates and some projects may be restricted to UK only.
