DURHAM PhD BY RESEARCH

This route to a Durham PhD is for applicants who normally already hold a Masters qualification (or international equivalent) with a significant research element. This usually means that your degree will have included a thesis or dissertation at the final stage and some taught research methods.

We offer three-year full-time or six-year part-time options, typically with an October start but January and, in special cases, April starts are also possible.

DURHAM PhD WITH INTEGRATED STUDIES

This is a four-year full-time option with an October start. It is normally open to applicants without a Masters qualification (or international equivalent) or who hold a Masters qualification without a significant research element such as a thesis or dissertation, or taught research methods.

This programme incorporates advanced research training in year one followed by research in years two to four (just like the PhD by Research).

The IPhD programme has two subject routes:

• management and marketing; and
• accounting, economics, finance and Islamic finance.
