Are you looking for an exciting and rewarding PhD opportunity?

60 PhD Students to be funded over the next five years for UK and eligible EU students.

Globally, one in four cities is facing water stress, and the projected demand for water in 2050 is set to increase by 55%. Placing an inspirational student experience at the centre of our delivery model, the Water Infrastructure and Resilience Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) will nurture a new generation of research leaders to provide the multi-disciplinary, disruptive thinking to enhance the resilience of new and existing water infrastructure.

The CDT is run by three world leading water research groups at internationally leading universities:

You will have the opportunity to develop solutions that consider the complexity of water infrastructure through whole systems thinking and carry out research and training using large scale experimental facilities and observatories. Supported by more than twenty industry and end-user partners, you will:

  • Work on PhD projects that have been co-created with industry and end-user partners
  • Carry out an industrial placement and an overseas placement
  • Undertake a bespoke training programme with your cohort peer group to obtain the technical and professional skills required to lead research in water resilience.
  • Hands on training and research using large scale experimental facilities
  • Receive a stipend of £19,000 per year (with Fees paid) for eligible students (UK and EU)
