Franklin funded PhD studentship

The Rosalind Franklin Institute is a new physical sciences institute, funded by the UK government. We drive bold and innovative technology development through interdisciplinary collaborations across our scientific Themes. This includes building a unique multimodal imaging mass spectrometer and using electron microscopy to allow the imaging of biological molecules in motion.

We are recruiting ten open-minded students from any scientific, mathematical, engineering or computing discipline to work on the development of instruments across our Themes.

Our one-of-a-kind fully funded PhD programme will provide high-level interdisciplinary skills training, individual mentoring, access to industrial collaborations through a team of world-leading supervisors and new laboratory facilities.

Our Themes include:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Informatics
  • Biological Mass Spectrometry
  • Correlated Imaging
  • Next Generation Chemistry
  • Structural Biology

Franklin PhD students will have a wide-ranging choice of project, which will have real-world impact and collaborate with universities and partners across the UK. They will receive an enhanced annual £18,000 stipend and other benefits shown here.
