Full-time PhD Studentships available at The Open University (STEM Faculty)

Based in Milton Keynes

The School of Physical Sciences (SPS) invites applications for full-time PhD studentships in the areas of Atomic, Molecular, Condensed Matter, and Quantum Information Physics.

Details of the PhD projects we are offering this year can be found here.

Up to 3 full-time PhD studentships, funded by the EPSRC DTP and the OU, may be available to support eligible projects. The 3.25-year research studentships provide a maintenance grant of £15,009 per year (2019-2020 rate) and all academic fees are covered.

How to apply

If you would like to apply then please read the guidance on applying for a PhD studentship here and send a completed application form - home and EU students, an up to date CV, list of individual courses taken and grades obtained, a personal statement, plus any other relevant information that you think may support your case for consideration, together with an outline of project(s) of interest to STEM-SPS-PhD by the application deadline. You do not need to submit a research proposal for any of these projects, as they are already defined by us. You are encouraged to contact the lead supervisor of the project(s) for any informal enquiries.

Closing date for applications: Monday 20th April 2020 (16:00).

Interviews will take place on 27th April 2020.

We are committed to widening participation and awarding PhD studentships to a diverse community of applicants. We particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups.

Equal Opportunity is University policy.
