Business, Economics and Finance Sciences are included in Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland, which is regarded to be the first research university in Poland among universities of technology according to domestic rankings. This programme is conducted at the Faculty of Management and Economics and contains training in two disciplines:
The program is designed for students interested in pursuing advanced study and conducting original, theoretical or empirical/applied, research.

The candidates can choose supervisors among experienced scholars, publishing in internationally recognised journals and involved in numerous research projects.
The program offers an extensive training on the necessary theoretical foundations and empirical methods. PhD students in economics and finance will get familiar with theoretical underpinnings of modern economic research, including the theory of consumer and firm behaviour, models of economic growth, technological progress and innovation, macroeconomic policies, market structure and industrial organisation. They will learn how to do advanced empirical research in economic and finance using macro- and micro-economic data. They will learn econometric theory, methods and applications.
PhD students in management and quality studies will get familiar with theoretical underpinnings of modern management research and their application, including new theories of organisation, firm behaviour, business models, institutional perspective on management theory, competence, servitization and innovation analysis. They will learn how to do advanced empirical research using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods.
The graduates of the program will gain advanced knowledge and professional skills enabling them to serve in the public and private research sector. They will be qualified to continue their career in academia (mainly in the departments of macro-/micro-economics, international economics, economic analysis or finance, management) or in research institutions. They can also work as highly qualified professionals/analytics in the business sector (multinational companies), in financial sector (banks, insurance companies, etc.), public administration or in international economic and financial institutions.
Education is conducted in English and lasts four years. All PhD students at our School receive regular fellowships (around 3200 - 5200 PLN per month) and additionally may apply after admission for the second one granted individually from university (around 2500 PLN per month). There is no tuition fee.
In order to apply for admission, candidates have to select and contact prospective supervisor and register at our web-page. Process of admission includes application evaluation, acceptance by prospective supervisor, an interview and requires from a candidate to have an official certificate of English (at least B2 level), recognized by the school.
