Business, Economics and Finance Sciences are included in Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland, which is regarded to be the first research university in Poland among universities of technology according to domestic rankings. This programme is conducted at the Faculty of Management and Economics and contains training in two disciplines:
The program is designed for students interested in pursuing advanced study and conducting original, theoretical or empirical/applied, research.

The candidates can choose supervisors among experienced scholars, publishing in internationally recognised journals and involved in numerous research projects.
The PhD program offers an extensive training providing theoretical and methodological knowledge, but also skills and expertise to run empirical research. PhD students in economics and finance will get familiar advanced academic knowledge on modern macroeconomics, models of economic growth, technological progress and innovation, macroeconomic policies, market structure and industrial organisation. They will learn how pursue empirical research using macro- and micro-data. They will also gain skills to use advanced statistical and econometric methods.
PhD students in management and quality studies will get familiar with modern management theories, including new theories of organisation, firm behaviour, business models. They will also develop their expertise in innovation studies, sustainability aspects and circularity management. They will pursuing advanced empirical research using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods
The graduates of the program will gain advanced knowledge and professional skills enabling them to work in public and private research sector. They will be enhanced to continue their career in academia or in research institutions. They can also work as highly qualified professionals/analytics in the business sector (multinational companies), in financial sector (banks, insurance companies, etc.), public administration or in international economic and financial institutions.
The PhD programme is entirely delivered in English and scheduled for four years. All our PhD students receive regular scholarship (around 3200 - 5200 PLN per month), and our university also offers additional scholarships for the best PhD students (approx. 2500 PLN per month). There is no tuition fee.
In order to apply for admission, candidates have to select and contact prospective supervisor and register at our webpage. Process of admission includes application evaluation, acceptance by prospective supervisor, an interview and requires from a candidate to have an official certificate of English (at least B2 level), recognized by the school. Enrolment for AY 2025/2026 will start on April, 2025. All other details are given at our webpage.
