About us

QuantIC, the UK National Quantum Technology Hub for Quantum Enhanced Imaging is looking to recruit for its next cohort of fully funded, industry-led, PhD studentships. In 2021 at least 4 students will be fully funded for 3.5 years (UKRI stipend and tuition fees apply).

This world-class postgraduate training programme is aligned with the £1 billion UK National Quantum Technologies Programme (NQTP), and is a collaborative effort led by the University of Glasgow in partnership with the Universities of Bristol, Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt, Exeter, Southampton, Strathclyde and Imperial College London, along with more than 40 industry partners.

Key research themes could include:

  • Sensing and imaging developments in sectors such as healthcare, transport, defence and security, autonomous vehicles and consumer electronics
  • Entangled photon sources
  • Single photon detectors
  • Machine learning

The overarching aim to revolutionise imaging across industrial, scientific and consumer markets and advance the UK as a leader in quantum technologies.

A QuantIC industry-led PhD offers students the following benefits:

Entry requirements

Places will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applicants must have a 1st class or 2.1 degree at MPhys or MEng level (or equivalent) from a computing, mathematical, physical sciences or engineering programme. Exceptional candidates with BSc or BEng qualifications will also be considered.
