Generous Scholarships Available for PhD Studies@HKUST

HKUST provides generous scholarships for you to pursue full-time PhD studies, covering tuition fees, accommodation fees and other living costs.

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS): An internationally recognized award for PhD students established by the Hong Kong Government. The application will be closed on 1 December 2023. HKPFS awardees will receive:
- Stipend: HK$331,200 (~US$42,290) per year for 4 years;
- HKUST RedBird PhD Award: A Recruitment Award of HK$40,000 (~US$5,110) in the first year and an Academic Excellence Scholarship of HK$20,000 (~US$2,550) per year, in the following years, subject to the academic performance; and
- Conference Travel Allowance: HK$13,800 (~US$1,760) per year for 4 years
Postgraduate Studentship: HK$220,680 (~US$28,180) per year for up to 4 years for full-time PhD students.
RedBird PhD Award Program:
- An award program for excellent PhD candidates, in recognition of their outstanding academic performance and research capacity.
- Recruitment Award of HK$40,000 (~US$5,110) plus a waiver of tuition fee for new students in the first year; and
- Academic Excellence Award of HK$20,000 (~US$2,550) per year, in the following years, subject to the academic performance.
Guaranteed University Accommodation: For full-time MPhil/PhD students in the first two years of research studies
