PhD Positions at CCNY

Prof. Samah Saeed invites applications for funded PhD positions in the area of reliability and security topics in quantum computing, trustworthy hardware design and security of emerging technologies. The lab conducts research in reliable quantum circuit executions in addition to hardware security with focus on secure Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, and design of secure test infrastructure.

Requirements:

We are looking for self-motivated students with a strong background and expertise in the one or more of the following areas:

  1. For reliability and security issues in quantum architectures: background inquantum computing (preferable), algorithm, strong programming skills, strongbackground in theoretical computer science and linear algebra, background in security is recommended. Our research topics include but not limited to:
    • CAD tool for quantum circuits
    • Online testing of quantum circuits
    • Security threats in NISQ computers

  2. For trustworthy hardware design: solid understanding of computer architecture, hands-on experience with hardware design, background on testing VLSIcircuits, strong programming skills and algorithms, knowledge of cryptographyimplementation (preferable). Our research topics include but not limited to:
    • Security vs Testing VLSI circuits
    • Security implications of malicious CAD tools in the presence of AI and machine learning
