Funded PhD studentships at UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics

The UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics is a highly regarded university department in Ireland for Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Applied and Computational Mathematics and Mathematics Education, and has an excellent international reputation. The UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics is ranked in the top 1% in the world for both the subjects of Mathematics and Statistics (in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2016). The academic members of the school work on cutting edge research across a wide variety of areas. With approximately 40 current research students in the school it is a vibrant and stimulating place to work and study. The school has several active weekly seminar series that attract international leaders across all branches of mathematical sciences.

The Research Demonstratorships will be available for up to 4 years full time PhD studies. They will be awarded competitively on academic merit. The start date for these opportunities is 1st September 2023.

The stipend payment for the Research Demonstratorship programme is €18,500 per annum (tax free) together with up to €2,000 in travel allowance over the four years. This will include tutorial duties. Successful applicants will also be covered for 100% fees.

The closing date for applications is March 27th 2023 with the results anticipated in early May.

  • State up to three topics of interest. Please visit our website for a list of funded topics. Please list them in order of preference.
  • A brief curriculum vitae
  • A statement of mathematical interest (no more than 500 words)
  • Full copies of academic transcripts
  • Contact details of two academic references (name, telephone number and email address)

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to an interview that may be given over Skype.
