Project description

A PhD studentship is available for international applicants who wish to undertake full-time research in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast.

This studentship covers both fees and stipend and will support one of the following projects:

  • EU Agri Food Waste Streams as Biobased Polymer Precursors: Implications for Packaging Supply Chain Management and the Circular Economy.
  • On the development of biomechanics numerical models for the prediction of shear stress distribution on human eyes.
  • Innovative design capability of turbine blade using additive manufacturing.
  • A multi-fidelity simulation platform for assessing the damage tolerance of composite aero structures.
  • Advanced manufacturing of aircraft composite structures.

Applications should be made electronically through the Queen’s online application portal by 28th March 2019. If you are interested in multiple projects you will need to make a separate application to each.

Stipend: All projects carry a basic stipend of £15,009 and some may include an additional top-up depending on performance.

Funding notes: One studentship is available to cover stipend and fees for 3.5 years.
