UC3M Business - MRes/PhD Programme

The Business Department of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) offers a Master of Research (MRes) and a PhD programme for students with curious mindsets interested in understanding the business world from a rigorous and multidisciplinary perspective.

The programme offers specializations in the main areas of business (Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing).

The two-year master (MRes in Business and Finance) provides students with the statistical-econometric tools and the theoretical knowledge needed to study the business reality with analytical lenses. These two-years of coursework are considered as the first part of the Doctoral program for the students who wish to continue their doctoral studies. The PhD consists of three years of thesis writing under the guidance of an expert supervisor.

The University and the Department

The MRes and PhD in Business and Finance are offered by the Business Administration Department of UC3M, known by its long-standing commitment to quality instruction and rigorous training.

The Business Department is ranked 1st in the Spanish system of public universities (Eduniversal ranking) and it is the only AACSB-accredited Business Department in the Spanish public system. Every year, it attracts a high international body of students in the different graduate programmes.

As a public institution, we are committed to equal opportunity. We offer financial aid to students in good standing in the form of tuition fee waivers and a monthly stipend. Financial support is extended to those students continuing into the PhD. Early applications are strongly encouraged for those students interested in the scholarship.

Student profile

Students in this program generally have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics or Engineering. Most of them are recent graduates or have recently completed another postgraduate degree with a less academic orientation.

The ideal candidate should possess intellectual curiosity, a strong desire to excel in an academic environment, advanced communication skills in English, exceptional academic credentials and a robust quantitative background.

The student body is highly international: 80% of students are from outside Spain.

Placement

After completion of the MRes, the majority of our students continue into the PhD programme at Uc3M or in other institutions. After the PhD, our students have been placed in academic positions at reputed universities, government institutions or private companies.
