MPhil-PhD in Otorhinolaryngology and Communication Sciences, CUHK

This MPhil-PhD programme is a research-oriented programme offered by the Graduate Division of Otorhinolaryngology and Communication Sciences. It offers comprehensive training and supervision to students who aim to be a researcher in the areas of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Speech Therapy, Audiology, translational cancer research and related sciences. Students will have the opportunity to work with our team to explore topics related to minimally invasive surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, surgically implantable hearing devices, neurotology, anterior and lateral skull base surgeries, diseases of the Head and Neck, Head and Neck cancer research, microbiome in head and neck, communication disorders, feeding and swallowing disorders, craniofacial anomalies, audiology, and related sciences.

Through the programme, students will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to complete their research and thesis in one of the fields of specialization in the discipline. Physicians, speech therapists, and audiologists who plan to advance their knowledge in research are also welcome.

The Division of Otorhinolaryngology and Communication Sciences is under Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK. It is based at the Prince of Wales Hospital, a 1,300 bed major teaching hospital. Our experienced supervisors are experts in different areas of Otorhinolaryngology and Communication Sciences from basic sciences to clinical applications. We train and equip postgraduate students with in-depth knowledge and advanced research skills, aim to advance research in surgical sciences, cancer research, speech therapy and audiology.

Applicants should fulfil the general admission requirements of the Graduate School of CUHK.

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS), established by the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, aims to attract the best and brightest students from across the globe to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong universities. The HKPFS package at CUHK includes financial support totalling up to HK$1.69 Million.

Postgraduate Studentship
Awardees will receive an annual studentship of HK$216,300. Payable during normative period of study.
