PhD studentship opportunities

MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow

New, funded PhD studentships are available at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow, for studies starting in September/October 2018. Come and build your research career with this multidisciplinary team funded by the Medical Research Council and the Scottish Government Chief Scientist Office to improve health and reduce health inequalities.

We are offering three-year positions to those who have a Masters degree, or equivalent training, in a relevant scientific discipline. We can also offer, over a four-year period, an opportunity for postgraduate students to gain an appropriate Masters degree prior to starting a doctorate. Examples of relevant Masters at the University are the taught MRes in Sociology and Research Methods and the taught Master in Public Health.

To support our students’ development we provide training in all aspects of research and in transferable academic and generic skills. In 2018, The Medical Research Council (MRC)/Chief Scientist Office (CSO) Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow, is marking its 20th anniversary. We operate within the Institute of Health and Wellbeing, and work closely with our colleagues across both the College of Social Science and the College of Medical, Veterinary, and Life Sciences. The University has recently been awarded the best Scottish University by The Sunday Times.
