Entrance Scholarships
HKU Presidential PhD Scholar Programme / Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme with package of up to around ~USD214,520(for 4-year PhD), including:
- Cash Award (~USD5,128 in Year 1, ~USD2,564 each year in Year 2-4)
- Waiver of composition fees (~USD5,400 per year)
- Postgraduate Scholarship (~USD3,603 per month)
- Conference and Research-related Travel Allowance (~USD1,795per year)
- A guaranteed hall place in Year 1, with possibility of renewal
Postgraduate Scholarships
- ~USD117,410 for 4-year PhD
- ~USD57,730 for MPhil
Admission Requirements

Applications for admission to the PhD and MPhil programmes and the HKU Presidential PhD Scholar Programme are invited all year round. Applications to the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme are invited from September 1 to December 1, 2024.
