PhD Positions in Management Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, 17 fully-funded scholarships available

Politecnico di Milano School of Management (SoM) seeks candidates for Ph.D. positions in Management Engineering for the next cohort which starts in November 2023.

The Ph.D. Program in Management Engineering (DRIG) is a full-time (3 years) curriculum of study and research at the crossroad of management, economics, and industrial engineering..

SoM has a solid commitment to excellence in teaching and research. The DRIG Ph.D. trains students for high-level academic and practice-oriented research. The employment rate of its graduates is strikingly high (approximately 95%). Many DRIG Ph.D. graduates - who chose to pursue an academic career - are now professors in high-ranked universities, while the others who decided to work in the private sector instead, have achieved relevant positions.

Candidates have a structured study plan and attend courses that expose them to diverse theories and methods. While preparing their Ph.D. thesis, students are encouraged to combine diverse perspectives, span disciplinary boundaries, and, more generally, think out of the box.

The Selection Committee will assess candidates based on their CV, motivation letter, as well as their research project. The Committee will interview short-listed candidates (preferably online).

The admission ranking will be published on 13th July 2023.

  • Digital product passport for supporting circular value chains;
  • Exploring the role of entrepreneurial support organizations in digital entrepreneurship;
  • Fostering the adop/on of augmented reality technology: a consumer-centric approach;
  • Gender and urban spaces: an interdisciplinary approach;
  • Humanizing med tech innovation. The rise of the human med tech paradigm;
  • Industrial ergonomics and human factors: a comprehensive approach to the design and management of human-centered digital factories;
  • Multi-stakeholder partnerships to face societal challenges: the role of digital technologies;
  • New sustainable and circular business models for the textile fashion industry;
  • Public procurement for digital innovation;
  • Reconfiguration of gvcs and strategic choices of mnes. The role of national, international and sovranational policies;
  • Resilience and sustainability of global supply chains and re-shoring strategies;
  • The role of artificial intelligence in framing innovation and transformation challenges;
  • The strategic role of ownership;
  • Value based innovation assessment & procurement;
  • Which comes first: exploring the relationship between corporate deep purpose and sustainability-oriented innovation.

Candidates can apply for one or more of the above-mentioned scholarships by selecting them individually during the application process.

Candidates will received € 1,450 net per month and the amount will cover tuition fees. The candidates will be offered an office space, access to the library as well as to software and databases. Ph.D. candidates will receive a research budget and additional funds during their six-month mandatory period abroad. They can also increase their salary by working as teaching assistants and tutors.
