Research at Australia’s most innovative university

The Faculty of IT at Monash University is seeking exceptional PhD candidates to join cutting-edge Cybersecurity projects led by world-class experts. We specifically encourage applications from candidates who want to work on projects with a positive social impact. We are currently offering multiple scholarships in Cybersecurity.

Our pioneering research in cybersecurity includes privacy-preserving machine learning, quantum-resistant cryptographic protocols, high-performance fuzzing and the design of more secure, resilient and efficient cryptocurrencies and blockchain systems. Scholarships are available across all these areas.

We are the only university out of the prestigious Group of Eight to have a dedicated IT faculty rated ‘Above world standard’ across all categories in Information and Computing Sciences, and to receive the top ranking in AI and Image Processing. We are also home to the largest data science research group in the southern hemisphere, as well as leading cybersecurity and cryptocurrency specialists.

Generous scholarships and living stipends

We are looking to fill several openings for generous scholarship packages with dedicated opportunities for women in IT, candidates from low socio-economic backgrounds and other underrepresented groups. Dedicated funding is also available for Indigenous Australian students.

Every scholarship provides you with a living stipend, a tuition fee waiver and additional candidature benefits that can be used for travel, fieldwork and data collection, specialised training and equipment to support your research. We also pay for our international students’ overseas health cover for the length of their visa.
