PhD Student / Research Assistant at Goethe University Frankfurt

The Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main is one of the largest universities in Germany with around 48,000 students and with about 5,000 employees. The Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) of the Collaborative Research Center 1507 7 “Membraneassociated Protein Assemblies, Machineries, and Supercomplexes” (CRC 1507) at Goethe University Frankfurt offers 26 positions of a PhD Student/Research Assistant (m/f/x) for a limited period of four years, starting July 1st, 2022.

The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U) or to the participating institutions.

In our collaborative research center, 20 project leaders and around 100 employees work on the structural elucidation of cellular protein complexes and machineries at cell membranes, thus making pioneering contributions to biomedicine and the treatment of diseases. The Integrated Research Training Group, as part of the CRC 1507, is dedicated to scientifically educating PhD students and to accompany them on their way to a successful PhD thesis.

The IRTG invites you to apply for PhD positions within our research association. Become part of an international team of scientists focusing on the interdisciplinary basic research in life sciences.

Your qualifications:

  • Very good scientific master degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics or related disciplines
  • Very good English skills (written and oral)
  • Practical scientific expertise and strong theoretical background in one of the research fields
  • Creativity, flexibility and a high degree of scientific curiosity
  • Enthusiasm for basic research and a strong willingness to work in interdisciplinary teams
