The School of Engineering & Innovation invites applications to compete for a number of full-time PhD studentships which are part of a multi-million-pound government package of investment and managed by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Studentships will commence on 1 October 2020 and cover full-time fees, include a stipend (£15,009 per annum in 2019–2020), plus an additional annual research allowance.Self-funded, part-time PhD study is also available for some projects.
The successful candidates will be based at The Open University’s campus in Milton Keynes, UK, which combines a friendly and flexible working environment with well-resourced laboratories and workshops. Situated on the Oxford-Cambridge corridor, and just over half an hour’s train journey from London, Milton Keynes is a well-connected, modern town with a population of around 250,000.

Applicants will need to demonstrate good competence in the English language. To be eligible for a full award, a student must have no restrictions on how long they can stay in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of the studentship.
