PhD Study Opportunity in the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Macau for the 2023/2024 academic year

The University of Macau is the flagship public university in Macao, rapidly developing for high-quality education and groundbreaking research with English as its working language. Established in 2013, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) has recruited over 36 professors worldwide and established state-of-art facilities, rapidly becoming a regional leading research hub of biomedical sciences with particular focuses on cancer biology, stem cell biology, bioinformatics, reproduction and aging.

FHS is now admitting PhD students to the Biomedical Sciences programme for the 2023/2024 academic year, with a wide range of research projects in the areas of precision oncology, cancer research, drug discovery, stem cell biology, aging, genomics, epigenetics, proteomics, bioinformatics, systems biology, nanotechnology, metabolic diseases, pharmacology, transgenics, translational medicine research and more. Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant areas of biological and biomedical sciences. Applicants who have received their undergraduate degree from any one of the global top 300 universities or from a university that belongs to the category of “Double First Class” or “the level of A+/A in the First-Class Discipline” in Mainland China will be preferentially considered. All admitted students shall register in the middle of August 2023.

Scholarship and Post-graduate Assistantship

Full-time PhD students may receive one of the two types of financial support depending on their academic achievements. The detailed information can be found on the Graduate School’s website.

• "UM Macao PhD Scholarship” (MPDS) offers a stipend of MOP20,000.00/month (~USD2,400.00/month) for a maximum period of 4 years;
• “UM PhD Assistantship” offers a stipend of MOP12,500.00/month (~USD1,400.00/month) for a maximum period of 4 years.

Tuition Fee: The tuition fee scheme is programme based
