Poznan University of Technology (PUT) Doctoral School
Poznan Univeristy of Technology (PUT) is one of the leading technical universities in Poland. PUT employs over 2,200 staff and educates nearly 16,500 students including 400 PhD students across 9 faculties ranging from IT to Architecture.
PUT is located in Greater Poland with city of Poznan as a capital. Conveniently located half-way between Warsaw and Berlin (300 kms each way), Poznan has a population of over half-a-million, with over 102,000 students, who contribute to creating the city’s friendly and vibrant atmosphere.

PUT Doctoral School
Doctoral School prepares PhD students to obtain a doctoral degree within below scientific disciplines:
- architecture and urban planning
- automation, electronic, electrical engineering and space technologies
- information and communication technology
- civil engineering, geodesy and transport
- materials engineering
- mechanical engineering
- environmental engineering, mining and energy
- chemical sciences
- management and quality studies
PhD students receive education in the full-time mode during 8 semesters, free of charge and provided in English. Each PhD student has the right to receive a doctoral scholarship for a total period of 4 years. The monthly amount is PLN 2,670 gross prior to course mid-term assessment which then goes up to PLN 4,110 gross following it. Apart from that, PhD students can apply for research scholarships awarded for scientific achievements.
PUT offers accommodation in student dormitories with almost 2,000 places in single, double and triple rooms. PhD students can use library and information system resources, computer programs, data bases, laboratories and research equipment to prepare a doctoral dissertation.
PhD students work to develop essential skills and aptitudes to prepare them to conduct high-profile research at academic institutes and research centres. The complete doctoral training program consists of compulsory and elective courses, professional practical trainings (teaching classes or participation in their teaching) and internships in a selected scientific/research/industrial unit (minimum 2 months). Classes are provided by lecturers from Poland and abroad, who demonstrate highest teaching and substantive qualifications. Each academic year, new elective courses representing each discipline are proposed. Students’ performance is verified in various forms, like written or oral exams, essays, project team work, elaboration of the problem, reports, presentations, and working with source materials.

Recruitment to Doctoral School
- Entrance requirements: Master’s degree (MA or MSc) or an equivalent degree.
- Admission is based on competition procedure which consists of assessing documents submitted by a candidate (only a complete set of required documents is assessed) and an interview.
