Application Deadline: midday, 17 July 2017
Applications are now open for MRC-funded PhD studentships to start in September 2017. Ten studentships will be awarded across UCL and Birkbeck across the following Research Areas:
Four studentships will be awarded in the area of ‘Digital Technologies and Informatics for Health’ and two will be recruited to the UCL node of the UK Dementia Research Institute.
Applications to these studentships will be coordinated by the UCL-Birkbeck MRC Doctoral Training Programme, which provides state-of-the-art PhD training across UCL and Birkbeck. You do not need to have studied at UCL or Birkbeck previously to apply. The overarching qualities that we are looking for in applicants are academic excellence and the potential to pursue a career as an academic. You should be able to demonstrate your potential in your application and at interview.
A list of potential projects and supervisors can be obtained by contacting the programme coordinator Joanna Fryer ([email protected]). The studentships may include initial rotations in research groups, or advanced courses, followed by a 3 year research programme in the home laboratory. Each studentship includes home/EU tuition fees and a tax-free stipend in the region of £16,533.
To apply, you need to hold an undergraduate or Masters degree (at least 2:1 or equivalent) and meet the MRC residency criteria. Applicants who do not fulfill these criteria are not eligible.
All applicants must complete a UCL graduate student application form and ensure that 2 academic references are received by the deadline.
Once you have registered please sign-in and follow the on-screen instructions. When searching for the programme, select 'Division of Biosciences' for the department you're applying to. Then select programme code 'RRDLBSS4MR01' and programme title, 'MRC Life and Biomedical Sciences'. A research proposal is not required for application.
Applicants must ensure that two academic references are sent from the referee (by email) to Joanna Fryer ([email protected]) by midday 17th July.
