The Nottingham BBSRC Doctoral Training Partnership AMPlify Programme

What is AMPlify?

The AMPlify programme is an applicant mentoring programme to offer applicants who meet the required criteria the opportunity to receive mentoring support during their application for the Nottingham BBSRC DTP, a fully-funded PhD programme in the biological sciences.

Who can apply to AMPlify?

The Nottingham BBSRC DTP are really pleased to offer black or black mixed applicants the opportunity to apply for our AMPlify applicant mentoring programme for the 2022 recruitment cycle.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply to join the scheme applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Identify as black or black mixed
2. Hold or expect to obtain a 2.1 degree in a relevant subject by October 2022
3. Hold UK fee status at 2022

Priority will also be given to any applicants who meet the above criteria and identify as any of the following:

1. Have ever been in local authority care
2. Have ever been in receipt of free school meals
3. First in family to attend higher education
4. Completed/completing their undergraduate studies at a non-Russell Group university

What mentoring support will you receive?

As an AMPlify mentee you will receive a package of mentoring support throughout the application process from a trained mentor. This will include:

• A pre-application discussion with your mentor
• A funded opportunity to visit the mentor’s lab (Covid-19 regulations allowing)
• An application writing support session with your mentor
• An interview preparation support session with your mentor
• A post-interview outcome reflection session

This programme is a great opportunity anyone who meets the eligibility criteria who has an interest in applying for a PhD with the BBSRC DTP and would benefit from mentor support during the application process.
