The Roskamp Institute, Inc.

Join an exciting, multidisciplinary PhD program that offers hands-on training from day one, bridging cutting-edge laboratory science with clinical research. We are seeking motivated and dedicated doctoral students for the Neuroscience Ph.D. program at the Roskamp Institute, which currently has openings for Ph.D. projects in:

  1. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) research.
  2. Environmental toxin exposure, specifically Florida’s Red Tide.

Roskamp Institute projects are all focused on translational research, with clinical research to define the conditions under investigation, and extensive characterization of relevant preclinical models in order to identify and develop diagnostic strategies and therapeutic targets.

Typical techniques associated with Roskamp Ph.D. studentships include:

  • Analysis of rodent and human blood and tissue samples
  • Cell- and tissue-specific isolation and culturing
  • Antibody-based analytical approaches -Immunoblotting, ELISA
  • Rodent manipulation including behavioral testing, exposure and therapeutic studies, and surgical procedures
  • Neuropathological analyses – Microscopy, Immunohistochemistry
  • Mass spectrometry analyses – single molecule characterization, omics approaches
  • Pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling

Qualifications Required

  • Master’s degree in a scientific field, or a Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated scientific laboratory experience.
