Tizard PhD Studentships, University of Kent

Scholarship value

We are pleased to offer two fully funded Studentships associated with the Tizard Centre. Each of the scholarships available will cover UK tuition fees and an annual stipend based on the current ESRC studentship maintenance grant (£18,622 per annum (2023/24 rate) in line with the UKRI rate).

The Adult Social Care Studentship will also receive up to £6,428 across the three years for reasonable and justified research costs, and the Tizard Studentship in research into education for prisoners with additional learning needs will receive up to £500 per annum (pro-rata for part-time students) for project expenses

The Tizard Studentship in research into education for prisoners with additional learning needs is offered as a Graduate Teaching Assistantship. So, in return for the award, you will be expected to do a limited amount of teaching within the department(s) on a regular basis.

Criteria

Candidates will have obtained a First or good 2.1 undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and normally an MA/MSc at Merit or Distinction.

PhD Studentship for research in adult social care in England

Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) and the Tizard Centre, School of Social Policy and Social Research (SSPSSR) at the University of Kent are offering one full-time PhD scholarship to be based in the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) and the Tizard Centre in the School of Social Policy and Social Research (SSPSSR), University of Kent. SSPSSR is part of the Division for the Study of Law, Society and Social Justice (LSSJ). The studentship is funded by the NIHR School for Social Care Research (NIHR SSCR).

The studentship is available on a full time basis only.

PhD studentship in research into education for prisoners with additional learning needs

The Tizard Centre is offering a fully funded PhD opportunity to individuals passionate about making a real difference in the lives of prisoners with additional learning needs through education.

The Tizard PhD studentship can be awarded on a full time or part time basis. The successful applicant will be expected to work as Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA). Training and support will be given.
