About the Programme

 The Faculty of Arts at the University of Wolverhampton is offering three PhD studentships, each for three years of full-time study in the following areas:


1. The new Centre for Sikh & Panjabi Studies is to hold this year's ‘Dean's Studentship' in music-related research areas. These could include any aspects of the functions of music in the religious and cultural aspects of Sikh experience and practice, including worship, ritual, social context or musicology.

2. English – We are interested in interdisciplinary explorations into the changing nature of human cognition, specifically that of memory, in twenty-first century culture

3. Art & Design - We are interested in practice-led proposals that concern either animation/animated documentary, or video performance based practice.

Applicants should be highly motivated with a Master's Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. • A completed University of Wolverhampton PhD ‘Expression of Interest' form, available from the website, with details of the research investigation i.e. research question/s, methodology and anticipated contribution to knowledge.
• Proof of an IELTS score of 7 (only for international applicants).
• An academic CV with letters of support from two academic referees.
• Documentation of any practical work in CD, DVD or 35mm slides.
• A stamped self-addressed envelope for the return of visual material.
