The Centre for Applied Philosophy Politics and Ethics The Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics (CAPPE) was founded in 2005 and is the University's longest-running research centre. We focus on ethics and political philosophy; on the interconnections between philosophy, politics, critical theory, global ethics and other disciplines; and on specific issues in these individual areas. Our PhD community is very active and students participate in a range of conferences, workshops, reading groups, etc.
We welcome research student applications in any of the following three broad strands and/or in topics that run across them:
- Social movements and radical global politics
- Critical theory and radical politics
- Applied philosophy.
For more information about our research centre, visit the Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics website. You are particularly encouraged to make informal contact with any of our colleagues to discuss possible projects.
To discuss opportunities with our Centre Director, email Professor Bob Brecher: R.Brecher@brighton.ac.uk
