About the Programme

We are pleased to announce the availability of fully-funded fee scholarships for outstanding PhD applicants starting in 2021.These scholarships are aimed at high-calibre students who wish to pursue a research career in academia, government, research organisations, or in business.

The scholarships are available to students from all nationalities and cover both home and international student tuition fees with an additional maintenance allowance of £15,600pa for 3 years.

The deadline for PhD scholarship application is 17:00 (GMT) on 1 August 2021.

Research topics

Applicants can view a list of topics that have been suggested by potential supervisors below, although we also encourage topics in other areas linked to these research centres.

How to apply

Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact members of the research centres about their research topic and to seek their advice on developing the proposal they wish to submit. The full proposal (max. 2000 words) for submission is then submitted along with (1) a University Postgraduate Application Form; and (2) a current c.v. – max 2 pages.

Students also participate in a large number of research centre and departmental activities, such as seminar series, workshops and conferences.
