Profile Description

Manchester Met is a proud member of the White Rose Social Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership (WRDTP).

This partnership, accredited by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), allows us to offer fully funded scholarships in the following broad areas:

Our scholarships

We offer scholarships that cover your PhD (+3) or your PhD with an integrated MA in Social Research (1+3).

These scholarships cover your tuition fees, an annual stipend (of around £14,777) and a small grant to cover research expenses. EU applicants who have not been resident in the UK for the last three years may just be eligible for a fees-only award.

Research excellence

You will join a lively community of established and emerging researchers at Manchester Met who are undertaking innovative theoretical and applied research in education, health and wellbeing.

We have an international reputation for excellence, with over two-thirds of our health and education research rated as world-leading or internationally excellent in the most recent national research assessment (REF2014).

Two major centres underpin our research culture: the Education and Social Research Institute (ESRI) and the Health, Psychology and Communities Research Centre. These centres promote high quality research, and host a diverse range of seminars, workshops and networking events.

Rigorous training

We are committed to supporting our postgraduate researchers to develop personally and professionally during their research.

You will be able to design your own rigorous programme of research training, covering both subject-specific and transferable skills. As a White Rose student, you will also have a wealth of networking and development opportunities available to you.

Applying

Before you apply, we recommend that you discuss your research with a relevant academic as soon as possible.

The final deadline for applications is 5pm on 23 January 2019.

To find out more about applying and to contact a relevant academic visit our White Rose webpage.
