This PhD with Dr Nicholas Martin will study German culture and memory of the First World War. Compared to the British and French experience of the First World War, ways in which German writers and artists have attempted to come to terms with the conflict is an under-researched field, as are processes of remembering the First World War in Germany, both in the interwar period and since 1945.
There are a limited number of funding opportunities with the College of Arts and Law, however, competition for these scholarships is fierce and only those with the highest credentials are likely to be successful. For more information see: View Website
Enquiries from self-funded students are also welcome.
