RESEARCH THAT DRIVES CHANGE
The Carnegie School of Sport at Leeds Beckett University is purposefully committed to fostering collaboration and effecting positive change. Our research strength lies in the extensive knowledge and expertise of our staff and students, enabling us to pursue an inclusive and ambitious research agenda that spans the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Grounded in our genuine dedication and capacity to address practical problems, our research culture aims to achieve tangible outcomes beyond the confines of academia. Whether it's our pioneering work in talent development, coaching practices, and anti-doping efforts, or our investigations into gender equality, aging, and obesity, we strive to apply our knowledge to tackle the pressing issues faced by our communities today.
Our research programmes are designed for individuals who are eager to tackle problems head-on. We seek people who are attentive, collaborative, and unafraid to challenge conventional thinking by bridging different fields. Every day, we engage with real-world challenges alongside industry and academic partners from all walks of life. With over 170 research students working across various fields, you will become part of a community that is making a profound impact on society through the realm of sports.
RESEARCH THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Our research programmes are designed for individuals who are driven to solve problems. We seek individuals who value collaboration, possess strong listening skills, and are unafraid to embrace interdisciplinary approaches. We encourage applications for our studentship opportunities, as well as from self-funded candidates who wish to collaborate with our academic staff on their own research projects.
We recognize that true impact lies in the societal change we strive to achieve, rather than the research problem or project itself. Our research and knowledge exchange efforts are facilitated through our six University-Designated Centres and Institute,
Our academic staff are committed to assisting prospective students in developing their research proposals as part of the application process. They are also happy to arrange visits for prospective research students, providing an opportunity to view our research facilities and meet our research community.
