About the Programme

Psychology PhDs at a world leading university

Delve into the fascinating world of psychology research at UEA and unlock your potential for exploration and discovery.

UEA’s School of Psychology offers cutting-edge programmes that embrace innovation and research excellence. Our PhD programme in Psychology is centred on Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Science, and Social Psychology.

Our postgraduate psychology students have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a range of behavioural and neuroimaging laboratories, as well as the world-class Developmental Dynamics laboratory. In the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), our research environment was given the highest mark of 4*, and 96% of the School's unit's submitted outputs were considered to be world leading and internationally excellent, which ranks us 14th of 93 in the UK.

We invite applications focused on research themes related to the expertise within the School. Interested individuals with independent sources of funding should, in the first instance, contact a potential supervisor (researchers in the School) to discuss opportunities to develop a new project or submit their own independent project proposal. All applicants must submit a two-to-three-page research proposal.
