Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries

About the Programme

The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries enjoys outstanding success and partnership through its research and innovation activities. Through these activities, our staff and students make the creative arts, media and technologies relevant to the modern world and use creativity to address the challenges of social democracy and inclusion, health and wellbeing, and sustainability and the environment.

In collaboration with industry and through our links with leading businesses and cultural organisations, we're turning our insights into innovative and sustainable solutions to some of society's most-pressing issues.

Tops tips for applying for a research degree

  • Have you got a project in mind? Explore our research subject areas above to check if we are active in the field you are interested in.
  • Find a potential supervisor and get in touch to discuss your idea.
  • Make a head start on your proposal. It pays off to work on your proposal before submitting your application. Most supervisors are happy to work with you and offer advice on how your proposal can be improved.

And if you haven't quite refined your own research idea, you can explore our PhD projects. These are pre-defined projects where a supervisory team is in place already.

We offer three intakes a year (October, February and April) for our standard PhD programmes as well as opportunities for flexible or distance-learning study.

There are various models for PhD research that we can support including PhD by practice projects. We welcome a range of research methods and we are especially keen to support interdisciplinary projects that involve more than one of the specialist research areas in the faculty.

Explore your options and get in touch with supervisors
